INOUE Yuichi Centennial Exhibition

INOUE Yuichi Centennial Exhibition at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art

Kanazawa, Japan

Janurary 2 2016 - March 21 2016

About the Exhibition:

February 14, 2016 will mark the centennial of INOUE Yuichi (1916-1985), one of the foremost calligraphers and artists of post-war Japanese art. In recent years, Inoue has received increasing attention not only in Japan but around the world. By revolutionizing “sho” (calligraphy), a medium associated with the oldest layers of Japanese and Asian culture, he produced artworks truly universal in value. Inoue Yuichi transcended traditional calligraphy with a spirit of free expression. This exhibition will explore the essence of his art.
